Add Alt Tag for Images Smartly with SEO friendly Images

In my previous post How to Find Free Images for Your Blog Posts, we discussed on how to look up for copyright free images. From an SEO perspective, it’s important that you assign alt tag for images as search engines cannot read the images directly.

The alt attribute is used to describe the contents of an image file. It’s important for several reasons:

1) It provides Google with useful information about the subject matter of the image. They use this information to help determine the best image to return for a user’s query.

2) Users with visual impairments, or people using screen readers or who have low-bandwidth connections-may not be able to see images on web pages. Descriptive alt text for images provides these users with important information.

3) Optimizing the alt tag for images for search engines gives you a great amount of traffic.

For bloggers on wordpress using the normal image loader, you will not be able to add alt tag for images and adding the alt text manually for each image takes a hell of a lot of time indeed.

SEO friendly images is a wordpress plugin which let you automatically add alt tag for images using the preference you set on the option field

Use the Options page to modify ALT and TITLE options, You can use the proper title for your images, you can use “%name” attribute else you can use “%name %title” attribute. You are done, SEO Image does everything else

I am also using SEO friendly images and really love it. But I think for blogs on “blogging niche” where we don’t focus much on images the plugin is not so essential. anyway if it can do some good then it’s worth trying.

It might just help you get some targeted traffic as the images do get indexed in google.
